Come join us as we create award winning TV programs on Public Access Television

Cupertino Senior TV Productions is a group of volunteer seniors, founded in 1983, that produce a weekly 30 minute TV show called The Better Part that is cablecast over the Cupertino public access channel as well as public access stations in Atherton, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Jose, San Juan Bautista and Saratoga. The group has produced over 900 shows so far and are looking forward to show 1,000. Show titles

The group meets every Tuesday mornings at 9:30 AM for a business meeting when we plan upcoming shows and set the taping schedule.

On Thursday mornings the group has the use of KMVT15 public access studio in Mountain View to produce the programs.

During this session we invite a guest to be interviewed in the studio, and the members of the group operate the professional television studio equipment under the direction of a engineer.

We also do programs at remote locations.

It can take up to 12 members to produce a show.

It takes a lot of people to put on one of these shows, both in the studio and in the background. None of the group had any experience when they first entered the studio, the KMVT15 staff has trained us all.

If this sounds interesting to you, you are welcome to join us on Tuesday morning at 9:30 AM at the Cupertino Senior Center, Oak room, to meet with the members of the group. You will then be invited to join us on Thursday at 9:30 AM in the KMVT15 Studio for one of our recording sessions.

Non Studio Tasks
Outside of the studio there are various organizational tasks to be conducted. This is another area for volunteers. Some of these tasks are recording secretary, correspondence, treasurer, video editing and web site manager. A non studio person can be a show producer.

There are also single project tasks that come up on a random basis which could be as simple as offering to car pool for one of the productions or helping coordinate a group’s celebration.

Membership
You will need to be a member of the Cupertino Senior Center, (membership is $22.00/year for a resident). If you choose to be part of the production studio team you will have to take training at KMVT15 and pay their membership fee also. There is a fee for the KMVT15 training.
